Mok Kai (Steamed chicken in banana leaf) for breakfast in Vientiane, Laos. Mok Kai is a classic Lao Food dish with fresh herbs and spices for seasonings and chicken egg in the middle for a finishing touch.

Pickled Mustard Greens

My aunt served the Steamed Chicken in Banana Leaf with freshly steamed sticky rice and Som Phak Kard (Pickled Mustard Green) that she made herself. I have never eaten this dish before and would like to have a taste the next time I am in Vientiane, Laos. Perhaps I’ll have a chance to make a video recording of the cooking process so I can attempt to make it myself once I get back to Holland.
