Today, May 22 is The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB). 2011 is the International Year of Forests and forest biodiversity is the theme for this year. Laos is celebrating this occasion with the issuing of rare orchid Lao stamp, which will go on sale today. I was told on the phone that I will be receiving a set of stamps and souvenir sheets in a few days. I can’t wait to see what they look like.
The Post Office will produce the limited edition print in two forms – postage stamps and souvenir sheets – to mark International Day for Biological Diversity.
Only 500 non-perforated souvenir sheets will be printed, 1,500 perforated souvenir sheets and 50,000 stamps will be available on May 22, Mr Bounchan said.
I ran into this white poppy flower during my walk on Friday. Happy International Biodiversity Day.
