Tou Yar (grandmother) in Pakse, Laos has a typical garden just like all her neighbors growing at least two of each plants, everyday herbs and vegetables. I noticed how all the houses along her street are growing Thon Maak Yom (Gooseberry Tree), coconut, and plenty of banana trees.
Along with fruits, herbs, and vegetables growing around her house, Tou Ya also has a few ducks and chickens roaming freely on her land. She also grows some flowers for religious ceremony at the village temple.
